3 speed T87 transmission (not original) hydraulic clutch system The clutch action is at the very top of the pedal. Is this caused by a worn clutch disc? The truck is new to me and I don't have experience with the straight 6 engines. The truck does seem to have trouble with moving itself (especially hills) but I wasn't sure if this was normal. What should I start with to determine why this is occurring? thanks

I realize that the thread title says "releases" but, it's really engaging I guess. Sorry for the mix up

The clutch should catch about the same as most standards. There should be an adjustment. Those engines are no speed queens but should have no issues moving that truck. If the engine is lacking power it's possible the clutch has been feathered too much to compensate for it and is simply worn out now.

adjust that hydraulic clutch by loosening the 9/16" lock nut on the shaft sticking out of the hydraulic slave then turning the inward about two turns. check the clutch travel and adjust more or less as necessary. then tighten the lock nut.
that 6 cyl will pull any hill but you will be happier with a four speed transmission behind it. the close ratio t19 makes a nice drive-around-town transmission but for rough driving, the t98 with its granny first gear makes a stump puller. Both are Bolt ins but you may have to shorten the drive shaft - I haven't done it so I don't know for sure. Anybody else??

Doc, you read my mind as far as the T98 goes. I have the factory PTO that I would like to keep, is there anything special that I need to look for on a possible T98 swap?
The Travelall is getting some king pin work done at Light Line of LA, but I will mess with the clutch when I get it back. Thanks for the reply
