Unhappy Need some encouragement.

I realized this morning that it has been about 2 1/2 years since I bought my Scout. During that time I may have driven it 10 miles. The PO had mislead me about several things and some of his earlier repairs were shoddy and need to be done right. Anyway the whole thing is dragging me down.
I hope that when I get the front axle swap finished I can drive this thing a little, but I am losing steam.

Just hang in there. I know it is tough when you feel like one thing always leads to another and it never seems like there is an end. Just pick small goals for you project along the way, and once you get it to a point you can drive it do some little things you want to take care of and still leave it where you can run down to the store or take it to work one day.

It will get better, and trust me, most of us have been there too.

I know the feeling. I've had my 800 for 6 years and have only made it around the block once. Had to put it on hold for a while but am getting closer now!

I am right there with what you are feeling. I had my scout for 13 years and I only put about 1K miles onit, but when I finally got it the way I wanted it, it was worth the effort and time. I took a lot of pictures so I could see my progress and realize that I am actually making progress. Too bad we all couldnt just get together in a big warehouse and work on our trucks. That would be fun !!
Good luck with your rig.....just think of the end result!!

Don't get discouraged man I have had mine 14 years and mainly just drove it 7 years and then parked it for 7 years and didn't even realize it was parked that long! LOL Anyway the way I found to keep motivated on mine after years of working hard til I burned out and then quiting awhile was to take it a step at a time. Make a build page on the BP and keep a running record of what you are doing and take photos that motivates me more than anything I finished one car in about a year that way and now I am on the Scout and another car at the same time (not on purpose) and have a build page for both. Soon I will be back on the Scout full time. But take time to go do things you want to do with friends and family and then when you are home you will want to work on the Scout just work a hour or two here and there as you can but don't stop unless you need a break. You will be surprised how much can be accomplished and how much you will want to work on it. It kinda gets where it's like brushing your teeth, you just do it. Good luck hope I didn't bore you with my rambling.

Ive had my yellow Scout for a little over 10yrs and didnt get to start driving it regularly til spring of 2010 in that time though it got motor rebuild, trans swap, all new suspension, interior, paint and body, rear end swap, front and rearend rebuild(from 272s to 373s with a locker in the rear and a L/S in the front) front seats from a Camry swapped in,tried an AFI fuel injection system swapped in a wide ratio t19 and rebuilt the dana 300 with a terra low kit 4:1 low range redone the interior again added anything Scout bumpers and alot more but as you can see in that time I ended up doing a few things 2 or 3 times before I finally liked how it turned out and in that time If Id have been smart about it I would have went ahead and pulled the body off the frame and cleaned and painted it too thats one of the things that Ive never liked is all the yellow overspray on the frame and springs from when it was painted shoot I messed with that AFI kit for about 2 years before finally giving up and changing back to to an Edelbrock 1406 anyway my point being it seems that for a while when you fix one thing something else will be busted the longer one has sat or the more abused it has been the more you'll find mine had not only been setting for 5 to 8 years before I got it but it had been wrecked , the motor was locked up, the transmission was shot and the rearend was on its last leg

so with that said yours didnt look as bad as mine was when I got it so jest keep pecking away at it and you'll get there sooner or later

I just got some parts in from Rockauto. New plug wires, spark plugs, and the like. If the weather cooperates Monday, I may get the engine running right again. Working outside in the winter is slow.

I know what you mean about needing some encouragement. I myself purchased a 79 Midas and the PO wasn't honest with me at all. Oh well. I even tried to sell it for less then I paid for it. No bits so the wife has finally talked me into restore it. It needs a lot before I can put her on the road but I'm going to do it, one thing at a time, and before long it will be done.
