Default 800 Bellcrank to Firewall Cover Seal

Anybody have any idea what IH used (or what I could use) to seal this area beteween the bellcrank clutch relay linkage flipper flopper thingy and the firewall/cover? Thanks in advance.

Part of an inner tube? Or modify a large trans shift boot?

I like the idea of a boot Mark. I would need to figure out some way to allow the rod to turn inside the boot. Hmmm. Thanks...please keep the ideas coming.

Davis, super scout specialists shows a clutch pedal linkage seal for $3 and it looks like a rubber donut/grommet type seal-application stats that it is the seal for a 800 with mechanical linkage-I found it in the 80/800 section under clutch I believe. I don't know if this is what you need, as my 800 has a hyd. Clutch. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help Nevada. But thats the seal that goes on each end of the rod to seal off the plastic bushings. It wont work for here. Thanks again though.

What about using a door/trunk gasket, could push it right on. You might have to make a small plate on the firewall side to round out the hole? Should seal it up and look nice. Friction shouldn’t be noticeable on the clutch pedal.

That might work Brant. I need to look around and see if I can find something similar to that. Thanks for the suggestion.

how about a clutch cable cover-800,firewall mounted? you could even bend the cover to fit,cut the hole out a bit bigger also.jeff

Not to hi-jack Davis's thread, but was there nothing there originally? My parts book is not readily available, but surely it list something to fill that gap.

Thats no hi-jack at all Mitch and was part of my original question. There was no remnants of anything at all on the cover, firewall, or bellcrank. My thoughts were exactly like yours...surely IH had something there. It would have been a wide open door for heat, wind, fumes, and critters when these scouts were brand new. But maybe thats why they moved to a cable on the later V-8 800s.
