Default Scout 80 Cover

Any thoughts on car covers for storage outside?

I've seen postings on here of folks going to Autozone or PepBoys and getting a $40 special.

The ones I've been looking at online that are UV, rain, snow, 'dust' proof etc are about $140.

FYI, the cover would need to be the kind with the security cable running through it's hem, so I could lock it down and keep it in place. Granted, any real punk could just slice the whole thing off, but it would at least keep honest men honest!

So, has anyone gotten such a top for less than $100 for a Scout 80? And if so, where?

Thanks!

Try JC Whitney. Search for a cover for the 4 door jeep.

I bought a nice cover from them and it fits great. I don't remember what it cost, but I am notoriously cheap.

You think this would work? I'm in the market for one also.

I like the price for the Amazon one, but says it won't work for the Scout application. Gotta say, it does look pretty small. Would be a good buy otherwise.

The JC Whitney site does have a cover for the Scout, but like the others I've looked at, it's around $150 or more. If I was going to be around more, I'd just tarp it and hit it with scotchguard. But need to make sure the thing is drum tight. Let me know if you find a good match, I'll do the same.

I typed in my info also and it was a no-go. I guess you could always return it if it doesn't fit.

If you find something let me know.

Have you looked for one for an older Bronco?

Just a follow up if someone trawls through these threads. I ended up buying an autozone cover ("#1") which is basically their smallest SUV cover (I believe).

Fits great. Cost was around $60.

Quality, OK, not great. This cover has the elasticized band and two grommets and a couple of loops. Between all that you can cinch it down no problem using bungees. It may claim to have multiple fabric layers. But it doesn't look nearly as substantial as my $150 cover for a rover (which the mice got to).

That said, it's ok for the money. Also, as for water repellant qualities, I wouldn't trust it. It is vague and marketing-speak when it talks about water. I ended up hitting it with two cans of scotch guard ($14) and putting a tarp underneath the cover - basically safari or bikini top style so the truck can breathe.

(I run the truck topless and built a hoopset for it so I can put covers, tarps, over it etc).

It's fine for the cash outlay.

DB1115 posted up some pics of his "CustomMadeCaliforniaUltraSoftPillowtopMatressCarCo ver" in his build thread. No idea the cost, but based on his quality of work, I'd guess it's a few $$$.

Got three "large car covers" at $30 each last year. One covers my 68 CO Loadstar, the second will cover my 72 Cargostar and the third covers my Scout 80 very loosely. Some bungees hold them down in wind.
