Default Travelall Upper Kingpin Bushing

So, my driver's side kingpin needs to be gone through and I've searched and read about the upper bushing being very hard to find or unavailable.

Is there a source where they can be had for the right price? Is it worth it or should I just use a lower bearing on the top after it's filed down?

My driver's side is the bad side, do I have to do the passenger side too? Are there differences in the pass side and driver's side bearings or can I just order 4 new bearings and get to work?

I've never messed with kingpins and I hope I'm not getting in over my head. A local truck shop quoted me $700 for both sides including an alignment if I brought the parts.

thanks,
Randy

Not a difficult job. Just replace the bushing with a taper bearing like on the bottom. Don't file the pin, machine it, or have it done. Jeeps came with an upper bearing.

Have you removed the steering arm yet to check the shims or are you just going to tear it all apart and replace anyway?

No, I haven't even gotten as far as taking the wheel off yet. I'm researching and brainstorming before I tackle it.

All suggestions appreciated

Should I do both sides at the same time? If I can just do the driver's side I'd be a happy camper, but if it's correct/necessary to do both then I will.
Are there different parts for each side or will 4 of the same bearings do it?
What do I need to look for with the shims?

Anything else to look for or avoid?
