Wow Tony. You have been withholding info from the brethren. Nice truck man. Yeah I had to do something funky to the linkage to get the kickdown on Eds scout with the Edelbrock to work right I may have some pics as well.

When I read through the manual for this carb, I saw two dist. ports, one ported, one manifold. Had no idea that you could choose.
I've got a flathead ford that HAS to run on ported (venturi) vacuum, otherwise its never timed right, and you're advanced at idle, fouling plugs all the time.
That's the thought process I have in my head when choosing which one to plug in to. Get it wrong and you're either crappy at idle, but drives great, or vice versa, great idle, no power at speed.
I'm ported right now, and seems fine, but park/neutral idle is high. Plus, my kickdown is not right yet, so I still have some work to do. I think I'll drive it and pick up a good timing light to see whats happening. The previous carb (4150 type) was extremely rich, so timing may be out of whack. Need to get that part right before I go any further.
It looks like this carb may reveal some other issues that I haven't found yet, which is good. I want them all fixed right from the start. Then if it tears up, I know I did it!

Well, Mr. Levi, If you would have gone to the car show last Sunday, you could have seen it first hand.......
JK, I just picked it up last Saturday, drove it back from Alabama.

So it's written down somewhere, here are the stats as it sits now:

Timing: 5.5 degrees
Idle in park: 850
Idle in gear: 600
previous mpg: 11.8 (hwy)
current mpg: TBD
vacuum advance: manifold (I switched it, and got a more consistant idle)

Kickdown bracket "modification" works as it should, I guess. Drops to 2nd at WOT @30-45mph.

Here's a view of said modification.....

vacuum advance port; manifold side, according to Vic.

And the pertiness of the engine bay (shameless self gratification)

So much better now that Levi showed me how to post real pics

Next on the list:
Electronic ignition and tune up with 3332 plugs brass cap and button
replace carrier bearing
charge a/c
Solve hot start issue ( poss just replace carb base gasket. Doug told me to, but I thought I was smarter than him and didn't do it. Guess what? I'm not.)
Drive the %$#& out of it!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Get rid of the collapsed bench seat so I can see over the steering wheel.

If JJ hadn't beat me to it, I would have popped the hood on my '73 1110 Tall, and popped pics of its Edlebrock. Dang the luck.

Nice truck by the way,

Jeff
