Default Anyone got this?

I need to see the linkage for an auto kickdown and the way it connects to a performer.

Anybody out there got this setup to snap a picture of so I can see what the @%$# I need to do?

Oh yeah, just to make sure, SV motors are timed vacuum advance, so I need venturi vacuum, not manifold, right?

Performer? Advance is supposed to be ported. I usually play with ported and manifold and see which one runs the best. Sometimes you can get a cleaner idle using manifold advance. Some people will tell you it is wrong to do it this way and others will tell you that manifold advance is the only way:shrug:

Good read on the argument. http://www.gofastforless.com/ignition/advance.htm

Yeah, Edelbrock.
It has two dizzy advance ports, depending on what type of timing advance needed.
Just trying to figure out which one I need, as in what type of advance SV motors use.
Vacuum advance on the dizzy could be bad, tests are on order, including timing. Idles in park great, about 700, nice and smooth, but drive is a little low and rough. Throttle response is quite quick, very impressed.
It's on my new toy, pics to come soon......

I agree with Levi, some run better one way, some the other. I've had a couple of earlier type IH's (early Scout II's or late 800's) that had a factory 2300 that the vacuum advance was hard lined to manifold vacuum, so I have to think IH did it sometimes. It seems like you can bump up the timing a little more if you use manifold vacuum because under a hard load condition (like climbing a hill), when it would normally want to spark knock the loss of vacuum and thus timing prevents the spark knock. But right now I think both of my Scouts are set up with ported....just because I really haven't given them a test of both ways to see which is better, now I'll have to put that on the bucket list

Is it possible that advance depends on the distributors? For example, Holley dizzies use ported vacuum, while pertronix uses manifold, or vice/versa? Not a statement, just a question.
Ok, it's official. Tomorrow I'm putting a timing light on this thing and see what it does at idle and at 2000 rpms. Full advance should come in by then.

So.....does anyone have pics of the kickdown bracket? I showed you mine, show me yours!

Yes!! Very much so!

You rock!

J.J., I would have called you about this, Figured the Travelall had that setup, but I thought you were working.

Unless you keep pics of carbs in your wallet.....

Thanks man, you saved the day! Now clean that 392 up! That's unbecoming of a J.J.

Now now Tony,
is this a Capitol One nod as in "what's in your wallet"? I can tell you at least two things that aren't in my wallet, and they are $100 bills and pics of my Travelall

Glad to help, work starts again tomorrow

Oh, and the Travelall is "original"

Back in the 60's almost everything ran manifold vacumme. They started ported as an emitions thing, could lower the rpm down when idelling. The only thing different between ported and manifold is right off idel(for the life of me cant spell today) at wide open, you have no vacumme either way.On my travelette and travelall that I tow with,I run manifold(much better low end pulling out) my 2 79 scouts are ported(the way I got them),my 64 scout manifold.
