Snap-on may be your best bet. I've bought some of their sockets for yoke nuts just because of the wall thickness issue.

Their spindle nuts in the catalog look pretty thin, (better metal ?). Price shouldn't break your bank, the 2 1/2" was $39 in 2007.
Ask the dealer for the O.D.

I emailed the factory tech dept about the OD, still haven't heard back..

Been a long time since I've seen a Snap-On truck, and I have a couple of tools to return, a busted 1/4 drive ratchet and a 6 point 3/8 deep socket that split..

Yesterday I had to pull a yoke off the rear of a T19 transmission: 1 1/2" nut set in. My 3/4 drive Proto socket would not fit in. My buddy's Snap-On socket would not fit. Found a Taiwan socket in the spares box; thinned it on the grinder and got the nut off. Now it resides in the drawer marked "special wrenches".

Sorry, the ones I got are 12"x2" six lug. You have 8 lug wheels, right?

You might want to try Phil Coonrod, 303-838-8505, he has an odd assortment of impossible to find IH parts, might just have those drums.

Think I may be talking to India, here..

OK, talked to Snap-On, Assenbacher, KaStar, Baum, and SP Tool. Only one who seemed to have a clue was Snap-On, the rest were reading from catalogs, didn't seem to know a nut from a bolt... Anyway, no joy.

Matco tools online catalog lists a spindle nut wrench part #1920 as 2.5" nut, clicking on the tool turns it into a 2.25" nut. Called 'em up, catalog reader said 2.25", tech supports consisted of same catalog reader using slightly louder tone...

Did you try an OTC #1920, 2.25" ?

Whenever you get them off, give them to a friend and install the Ford Dana 44 axle nuts. (one per side)
p/n E7TZ-1A134-A, from a Ford dealer, ask for '94 F150 axle nuts.
They use the "four pin" socket tool.
It replaces the two nuts & two washers with one nut.

Hm.. OTC #1920? Is same at Matco #1920? Trouble is, Matco tool is for 2.25 nut, IH nut is 2.5" I don't know if the Ford spindle is same diameter and thread pitch as IH. But if you've done it, it must work.

Getting on bike, heading for nearest Ford dealer. Nice day for a ride.
