Default axle ?s

So I was doing a little googling, and I think that a mid-80s dodge Dana 44 out of a half-ton truck or ramcharger is 64 inches wms to wms. If a scout 2 is 60.25, then that’s only 1.875 inches wider than stock. They are already sprung over, and 5 on 5.5 so I was thinking it would make for a great scout 2 axle swap. Are my numbers right? (You cant always trust what you read on the internet Has anyone used one) Wonder what the caster angle is on one? Any thoughts? Are the spring pads the same? 32.5?

On a side note I found a 1978 scout 2 running and driving, for sale by the original owner, clear title, 345, auto, ac, and completely stock. It was bought new in Los Angeles California, then in the 80s it moved to south west Texas. Needless to say this rig is rust free. It’s got 105k on it. He’s selling it to get something with 4 doors. $1500 I’m working hard on my wife to let me buy it. She said i have to sell one of mine first, but we'll see.

I had one of those axles at one time, and I don't remember it being that narrow, but its been a while, and the perches were wider than Scout. Plus parts aren't as common.

Cut down a chevy, shop for shafts that get you the width your after and modify the perch centers as needed.

Piece of cake

Scout width (Scout II inner shafts) with Ford wheel-hubs = 61.5" wide
Scout width (Scout II inner shafts) with Chevy 8-lug outers = 63.5" wide
