SD stands for Silver Diamond and the 220 is the displacement. Here is a thread with a lot of info on the Diamond engines. http://www.binderplanet.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=45151

Just because the oil pan has 220 embossed in it doesn't mean the engine is truly a 220. They used the same pan on a 240 and maybe on the 264 [but I haven't seen one of those]

Yessir, my 1956 BD-264 had a '220' pan, as did my 1961 BD-240
