Attachment 67844
Cut some long travel front shock mounts from some 2x4 I had left from the front crossmember. Just tacked till I cycle the suspension.
Attachment 67845

Out side for the first time pulled a few leaves out too.

Shot of mount. I put a gusset in the center to help support the sector shaft.

So now I had the brakes done and steering sorted out I cleaned up the carb again. Got the motor running and it picked up a bad knock. I was pretty discussed cause I had started collecting fuel injection parts. Also around this time I saw a build on here with a diesel swap. So the next week I went and got an 82 Mercedes 300sd.

The swap seemed to be a popular diesel option with the Toyota crowd. It was alot cheaper than any 4bt or sd33 I could find and these motors turn pretty high rpm which with the 5.13 gears I had just done in my axles was a plus.

Did some fire wall trimming to bring it back and down in the hole. Filter housing was a problem.

Decided the existing wiring was not worth trying to salvage so removed it and the dash trimmed a little more fire wall
