I made one out of good multi-veneered ( many layers) plywood.
Mine took a spead bore and went to a square bore with a large central opening, not multiholed. If your handy it can be done. This plywood I used was almost an inch thick, not a cheap 3/4 3 layerd plywood, more like furniture grade solid core, birch plywood. I put some fuel resistant epoxy on it. I ran long studs up out of the manifold and use quadrajet carb. Leaving studs in manifold, just attach carb with washers and nuts. It has worked very well. The plywood surface acts like its own gasket surface. I strongly suggest your adaptor be wood or phenolic not aluminum. With today's gas, you dont want to overheat the carb, all the gas will boil out of it. And you get hot start heat soak issues. |
