Default Introduction and build thread of my 77 scout

I have been a member for a few months, and finally decided to post a build thread. First let me thank bp for a great site with tons of information that has been very helpful with my project.
Last april I traded some machine work to my neighbor for this scout. Over the past few months I have been collecting parts, saving money, clearing other projects out of my garage, and I finally got started on it this month. It was parked 4 years ago because of a rod knock, so it will be getting a rebuild on the 345, wheels and tires, and possibly a little spring lift along with the suspension rebuild. I know there is a lot of rust in the removable hard top, but the body is mostly solid, and I plan on running the bikini top anyway. I will be doing all of the machine work myself, and posting pics as I complete the work. Any thoughts or ideas are welcome. Adam

The day I brought it home.

Good looking scout there's nothing more relaxing then fixing up a scout. Have fun.

Welcome! I have a '77 I'm building myself that needs some serious TLC. I have a build thread started (you should start one too) check it out. You are right about this site being helpful, everything I've ever asked I get more than an adequate (and friendly) response. Good luck with the project. I'll be sure to reference yours for ideas, feel free to do the same.

If an administrator could move this to the build thread section I would appreciate it. Adam

Welcome to the addiction!! I just removed my engine this past winter for new seals and paint, so I know mostly what you are going through. Although, the engine ran fine, just leaked terribly. Make sure you replace those engine mounts, mine were junk.

Good looking truck, I like the colors, looks like the paint should come out really nice. I look forward to seeing more on your thread.
