Followed your directions. AWESOME catch on the Green wire going to P. She's running strong. Still need to take her out for a long haul, but she's not bogging at ALL!!! I owe you a case of beer!!! |

![]() I couldn't see the connector but remembered you had swapped modules a couple times and wondered if the little clip got broken off and you just stuck it on without looking at the pins. Hopefully that's all there is. But you should still do the tests.

The replacement distributor did not have a clip for the coil. Yeah I feel good about a part that is so cheap they didn't put a clip.
![]() I need to clap down the distributor, and put the filter back on and go for a few runs and make sure I don't get stranded. I would never have guessed that the coil is directional. I've replaced one before and all it was was a wire and a clip. What am I not getting on this one? Thanks again! |

and while I have you, quick question, how do you keep the ALDL wires in the ODB1 connector? Mine falls all the time...

I crimp pins on data cable leads that fit in the connector.
I used to use a standard male spade connectorbut you can get thinner 1/4" male spades that just crimp on. You may need to file them a little smaller. All pickup coils are directional. You can see them set up in the distr/ignition FAQs. It's a critical step in a conversion. It was NOT one of the things I was considering in the beginning since yours is all a stock 350 chevy. But....it just proves you can't assume anything. At least it didn't cost you anything to fix it.
