Default Re: Dished lifter = need new cam?

the only intermittancy of oil flow is off cam bearings that feed each rocker shaft.
Cam has a single drilled hole which only lines up every 180 degrees of turning.

The chart mistakenly says valve lifter tappet flow is intermittent. The cam has a circumferential groove on number 5 cam journal, flow is continuous to the lifters. Technical editors made a mistake when they reviewed this document.

Notice they also show an 'oil pump float', ridiculous. So it floats on the oil surface in the pan?

The holes on the ends of the heads are for the turbo/air brake compressor oil supply drain back connections.

Some engines, as in heavy equipment, tractor, etc., had a pivoting oil pickup with strainer at the end of the suction line. The oil schematic is general in nature, and no matter how many engines you've had, worked on, or years in the profession; one rarely sees them all.
