Its a Hayden 457. It's listed in the Hayden Catalog as fitting a SV392. My question is will the adapter fit a SV392 oil filter? Thanks!

Does it say it will fit Fords too? If yes then it will accept the the IH spec filter too.

Not sure its a pain in the butt to search for info over here. I found it listed under application in the catalog that's it. Summit lists it fits as well. Guess I could just see.

Why an oil cooler? IH installed them on SV8s in medium duty applications but, if the cooling system is working well, an oil cooler is not useful on a Scout.

Coolers for automatics are 0.75" thick; coolers for engine oil are much thicker due to the tubes needed for the thicker fluid. I think even a stacked-plate cooler for engine oil is over 1" thick.
Sure you got the right cooler?

But Summit has a 90 day unused return policy so I can always return it. I am more worried the adapter for the filter won't work.

OK I am worried the 457 is the wrong one. One thing is the inlet and outlet is listed as 3/8''!!
So I had summit change the order to a Hayden 459 it's 7.5 in. x 12.5 in. x 0.75 in., 1/2 in. Inlet, Outlet. And it was $40 bucks cheaper!

I only mentioned it because years ago I bought an engine oil cooler for my Scout and had a custom adaptor made to run the lines into the block where the normal oil filter mount goes. That cooler was of the header type (typical) and IIRC the thing was 1.5" thick.
You have to be sure the cooler states it is for cooling engine oil. But you also said an adaptor for the oil filter. That part could be correct. In fact, if it is and fits, let us know. I'll be putting an engine oil cooler on my 196 because I'm turbo'ing it and haven't decided on casting my own adaptor and running a remote filter, or doing what you appear to be doing (does that adaptor have a thermostat in it to bypass the filter until oil temps warm up to more than 180 degrees????) Good luck with this!
