WOW! 4 th page. Sorry to all that are following this build. Long story short I was injured, had surgery, just now getting back into the swing of things.
As for the scout nothing has changed. I have all the. Needed parts in. And the transfers cases are torn down and cleaned up ready to rebuild. The motor is almost done ( machinist was waiting on me). Will hopefully tear into transmission in the next few days. Just got home from work this morning. And will be headed out to get some things done today. Formal update later tonight.

I recently obtained a t18 4 cyl setup for my project and am wondering where you are getting gaskets for the tranny from.

Thanks

T-18 gasket kits are easy to find.
Link to IH Scout T-18 gasket kit, 24.99 free shipping from Pennsylvania.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/IH-INTERNATI...b#ht_500wt_922

and www.drivetrain.com can get you an "IH" rebuild kit for about $200.

yes several places on line to get gaskets. we are doing a full rebuild. i searched high and low and could not find a lot of sourses for a full rebuild kit. untill a friend told me about a local shop to try. and they did not have all the parts but ordered it from their vendor. got every part needed to rebuild one for $180 and it included gaskets. so thats where we got ours.

so i spent all day in the garage! thats the first time I've done that in a long time.
i started the day by cleaning engine parts as we will need them very shortly. i thought this might carry me to lunch. then i planned to move on to building the hybrid transfer case. but as i finished each part i thought of another part i would need. so i spent most of the day just cleaning parts. these are all the "bolt-on" parts i removed before shipping motor off to machine shop. like the timing cove, valve, cover, oil filter ADP,water neck, etc. i can say that all parts are cleaned and ready for pain. some are in primer. i would have painted them all. but its raining here. since i couldn't paint i moved on to the head. i thought i was going to do this weeks ago. but one thing after another has kept me out of the garage lately. so any way i did all the port work on the head. this is what i do on every motor i build. it's just gasket matching for the most part. i had thought about a write up on it but that will have to wait. I'm too tired right now. so i will just leave you with pics of the transfer case tear down. that i did before going off on injured list. i took these pics as a step by step by again don't feel like writing all the captions right now. so if you have a question just shoot!

OK so that was the dana 18. i also tore down the dana 20 case that day which about the same exact process. then cleaned and primed the 20 case. and then cleaned all the 18 gears since all we will reuse is the gears. all other part were included in rebuild kit. more on that when i build it up. still need to clean and prime the shifter housing and rear output hosing, etc. that will go back on as well. back to the station tomorrow so more next week. its going to be a hard push to do everything i want to this truck. in the time i have with it. so stay tuned as things should move quick this summer.
