Default Getting there...

Hey everyone. I am not a Scout owner yet... But it is in the works. Made a deal with the wife. Trade in my Trailblazer, to get her a van (2 boys already, and a daughter on the way), and I get to get a car fron my top 5. Scout it is! I have narrowed it down to a 78-80.

I am looking to see if there are any clubs in my area. In the mid 90's, a lady that I worked with was part of a club here in Indy. I think she said her husband was the president. If there are no clubs in Central Indiana, are there any Binders in the area?

Next weekend making a trip to go see a couple scouts. In emails, one owner has stated that thier Scout runs, and is drivable. They let people drive it around the neighborhood and trails.. However, they can not get the hood open. Any ideas how to get it open?

Can anyone tell me how wide the back seat is on a '79 Scout II?

Thanks everyone for any help. I am sure, well positive, I will have many many questions.

Great... 1 full car seat, and a booster. One is out of the booster, one is big enough to be out, but not old enough.
thanks

just measured mine as it was on the back porch. 40" where it goes between the wheel wells and 48" out front. Approximately. Let me know if you need additional measurements.

This is a stock seat out of a 1979 scout II.

Try a travelall, travelette, travelcrew, or wagon master. Those should be plenty wide enough.

Or a midas version of the traveller has 3 rows of seats.
The traveller/terra is 18" longer then the standard scout II

We stopped by and saw Dennis's '72. My boys climbed in and we actually have enough with them, and a full car seat. Thanks for all the help. That being the good news.

The bad news, wife is having some issues with our baby on the way. It has put our plans off for getting a scout. We will still poop in. I need to learn as much as I can...

Thanks for all the answers and help so far.
