Ok so I took the red pill and shorted the red wire (E5) to ground along with ALDL B and nadda.

Looks like I'll try E4 next.

EDIT: I wondwer what codes would interfere. Is there a way in TP5 to clear the codes easily?

It's always possible you have an IAC problem.

Another thought is to just toggle the manual switch in the flags section.
That way it may ignore the input. It is also used for non-lockup autos.
It would be easy to try for you.

I have 2 IACs. One came with it, the other is store bought. Same deal with both. They either both work, or I blew both.

Which manual switch?

EDIT: Auto trannies are not my thing. I've rebuilt 2 manual transmissions, but not had to mess with an auto yet. I will ask do you have any advice for waht flags should be set? I saw somewhere I should set it for TCC or a 700r4 transmission, because that is not computer controlled, but I was not able to find a "how to" or flag list 9to set or unset) for it.

Click on the flags tab.
Look in the firrst section that says "air fuel mode words".
The fith from the bottom of that first section says. "Manual Transmission"

Click on it and it open a little window.
Click the box so it is checked.
Then hit save in that little window.
Make sure you save the bin when done.

I've been posting at thirdgen about some of my wierdness, I figure it was a bigger crowd than just you Bill :-) and they recommended replacing my PCM.

I went to the JY, there were only 2 qualifying vehicles. The first I opened up and saw the PCM was missing, but it was a perfect donor! I looked around the vehicle and sure enough, the PCM was just laying there by the driver's seat I thought that was too easy and was going to pull another...

The cal I got as BJLH, which is a 1994 but identical to my BJYL. However, the BCC spreadsheet lists it as a 16196395 PCM. It is very clearly not, as it has 16197427 on it. So I think the BCC spreadsheet has a mistake.

Anyway, I swapped everything out, and there is no idle surge or idle problem running the same bin that I have been. Incidentally, the fuel maps did change significantly for some reason. I'm thinking the IAC is now properly being controlled...

Is this the PCM you bent the pins on?
The damage may have been self induced?

The spreadsheet is fine.
The 6395 and 7427 are interchangeable so the memcals can be swapped between them. Both were for code $0D.

Online troubleshooting can be very difficult depending on what info is provided. Some people leave some things out, thinking they are not important.
But you need all the information to make an informed decision instead of a WAG that may or may not fix it.

With the the chicken and the egg, the egg came first. I only bent pins because the PCM was not behaving properly. (That's the egg) I could not get it to monitor data right and the IAC was not working. I kept having to stick the original memcal/chip in it to get it to work, and one of those swaps is what bent the pins. (that's the chicken)

It was not that the pins had been bent for a while. Rather I know the exact insertion they bent (very late in the process) which immediately triggered a "must go get a new one"* even though I bent the pins back so the memcal/G1 adapter would still work properly.

* for several reasons.
1. tired if doing this time consuming swap
2. structural integrity of pins was compromised. I knew that from working with computers with similar connectors, on a subsequent removal, the pin would break and the PCM and G1/memcal adapter would be junk.
3. tired of all the other weird issues.

That's good.
At least you got it working now.
You can continue on.
