Glad you made it home safe and sound.

We always stop and visit Buc-ee's. We call it getting the blessing of the beaver for the trip(there is one going north towards Dallas also we seem to hit more often than any)

i would be intrested in the top if you get rid of it

Had to sneak into work this morning for a few hours but when I get home I need to:
  1. Dismantle and cut up the rotted Travelall tub in the driveway
  2. Unload the Terra and place in space once taken up by said Travelall tub (saving rockers and a/b/c pillars and anything else that is usable)
  3. Tear into the front clip of the Terra and start removing any burned or otherwise damaged items
  4. Take scrap to scrap yard
  5. Begin engine compartment analysis (intake, heads, water pump, radiator, booster, etc.) and make list of stuff I need for Terra
I really need to keep my retentive tendencies in check on this one - quick and easy ... quick and easy ... quick and easy - that is what I need to keep in the front of my mind as I go along.

So far after a quick tire kicking last night my wife wants the following changes:
  • Different top
  • 33" AT tires with necessary lift to accommodate
  • Dark green paint and different interior color scheme
Fred you have first dibs on the top if she doesn't change her mind - the seats would come with it along with the door panels and anything else that matches on the interior except the wood steering wheel. They all should bolt right up to your Terra which means you might not need your top - wanna trade?

Hi all!
Just woke up from my comma.
Glad you made it home safe Dirk! Fun to get OOT once in a while. I'm really missing my cell phone though. I keep reaching for it to make a call, and NOTHING...

Sure hope the battery runs out before the person who finds it makes all those call (at roaming prices)

Anyways, the truck appears to be a good score. We all know how hard it is to find rust free metal.

As for the top. Perfect for a sun roof and side windows. Maybe those little oval ones like the T-birds had? Hope you end up with it Fred. Oh, and Fred. If you ever decide you need a longer car hauler, I would trade you straight out for a 22' one. It is brand new with only 1k miles on heavy duty axles, and full metal bed. I made a boo boo when I had it custom built. Too long for my needs.

One of these days, I will drive my 800B to a club meeting. It is very close to finished!
Then I will start on the 1210 truck. Think diesel!

Good luck on the build Dirk!

Dirk, questions
What size tires came with it? I might be intrested if you are getting rid of them
where did you come up with the title to this thread?

Would like to see the top before deciding on a trade.

Also, Don't forget to add the Terra to your signiture

Eric
On the trailer, shoot some pics, I may be intrested.
Longer could be helpful sometimes. Could you put 2 scouts on it at the same time?
5-6-8 lug axles?

On the travelall you are cutting up,there is a peice I could use,if its decent. In the rear wheel well area,to the front, now go just past the inner fender, there is a part that reminds you of a sub frame, its about 2 to 3 inches wide(iam at work so I cant measure)and about 3 inches high, has a flange bent out where it ataches to the underside of the floor. It has about a 45 degree bend in it and both sides from the bend are under 1 foot long,Its sort of a floor support. If you know what I mean I could use the drivers side, though either side would work
Thanks Jeff

So unless she changes her mind over the next few weeks / months who wants first dibs on a custom extended Terra top?

That is all for this part, off to bed.
That top was one thing that had my interest. Being able to haul somebody in the back but still have a small bed would be great, but different strokes for different folks. Whatever makes mama happy is what you need to do since she's supporting the addiction

As far as the rockers, unless the carb is melted the rockers should be fine. If the carb is melted, then you might have some issues depending on HOW melted it is. It looks from what I can see like the air cleaner and carb is still in place, so it should be a pretty straightforward fix, replace carb, clean up the tin up top and paint, wiring (of course) and probably distributor, hoses, and fire that bad boy up. Looks like the radiator might even be OK since the shroud looks basically intact.

Dirk, when will the Terra be open for public viewing?

Fred, when did you get a Terra?

The tires are 31X10.5X15 Big O AT tires, supposedly with about 200 miles on them.

First degree is a type of superficial burn, thought it might be fitting

Let me know whenever you want to come and see it. I was planning to add a window to the sides ala the other extended Terra top but when Tracie saw it she said it had to go, since it is 'hers', I will have to concede.

Signature is done

I think I just hacked that piece up when I was cutting out the rockers. Take a picture and send it to me and I will cut it out if it is still there because I am taking it to the scrap heap tomorrow.

I know, that top is what piqued my interest as well. As my note to Fred said above, my wife didn't like it from the instant she saw and although sometimes it takes a while for her to see my vision she was very sure she didn't want that top on 'her' Terra.

The paint is still intact on the rocker covers. I started disassembly just before dark today so really only got the hood off and fender bolts started. I need to finish stripping it down in the morning so I can take the damaged sheet metal with the Travelall tub tomorrow.

The power steering fluid was still full, or was full anyway, because when I cut the partially melted hose it poured out on the driveway. Tomorrow will tell the tale, either way I have a few engines and a transmission I can swap if it is too bad.
