Tell me the paint job will involve flames!
Great score Dirk, I can’t wait to see it in person.

Most of these trips unoffically start and end at Buc-ee's between Houston and San Antonio. For those of you not familiar with Buc-ee's they are really nice non-truck stop stops here in Texas where most everything is bigger by design. Here are a few pictures from the parking lot to draw this trip unofficially to a close even though I have another 1.5 or so hours until I am home.
Fuel consumption with new 37" tires and 3.73 gears was 11.98 MPG out with trailer in tow and 9.95 MPG back with Terra and trailer. Total of 198 gallons and 2161 miles (Buc-ee's to Buc-ee's). Not very good at all. Oh, spolier alert - I took the battery operated sawzall and cut the hood latch open ... the fire was pretty bad under the hood but I have extras to replace most everything so it should be fairly straight forward (famous last words).

Sweet score Dirk!!
![]() The hood view had me worried, but doesn't really look that bad(last words thing!). I would unhook what's left of the battery asap, seen a few of them like that and they looked worse and still had a charge enough to start a small fire after a month of stitting in an impound yard. Scott

I am now officially home after 44 hours on the road with over 38 of them actual driving hours. The transmorgrafied Terra is on the trailer safely backed in the driveway and mostly out of site of the neighbors - always important. My wife came out to take a look and was happy with it overall but did say the top had to go ... immediately! So unless she changes her mind over the next few weeks / months who wants first dibs on a custom extended Terra top?
That is all for this part, off to bed.

Glad you made it back safe Dirk. Looks like engine wise, other than possibly a few freeze plugs, belts & hoses, oil change & new battery & carb, you're looking at refurbing from the valley pan up?? Just a thought, take a close look at those cast aluminum rocker towers when you pop the valve covers as well and remember, I have a jar full of extras.
Knowing you, you'll have a parts list and attack plan in no time. Don't hesitate to call out for anything you need, as I'm always anxious for a chance to reciprocate for the many selfless trips you've made to the Scout Lair.
