the heads(kinda cleaned up)

the block is apart

Starting on the oil return passages and thinking about polishing the entire valley area instead of painting it its taking forever though lol

I must have missed it earlier, but aside from wanting to build a more potent 392, what was wrong with the first build?

I'm actually more intrigued with the idea of getting a junkyard SV and bolting on a turbo to make good power, rather than the expense it always takes to BUILD an SV.

Granted, that relies on finding a few good-used engines and shoving as much boost in them as you can, but it sounds a lot more fun..

Nothing was really wrong with the engine before. I just want to help oil return to the pan a little more and bump the compression to help spool the new turbo faster. Ill also be opening up the heads a little more and lightening my rods like you did

did a little more work on the valley area with my buddy today.

plan on polishing the oil passages in the head as well

Also just tryed out my new scale and got the weight of a few rotating parts
Whole assembly(with rod bearings and rings): 2032-33grams

Rod caps: 307grams

Arp rod bolts: 63grams

Rod bearings:64 grams for both sides

I plan on attempting to get the entire assebly weight (with rings not bearings) down to 1850 grams. but we'll see what happens

Yeah I'm not sure what to expect. I've seen a few basic blow through 350s and what not on the dyno that layed down some crazy numbers. I'm trying to aim high though. There's no saying how much power ill have(hopefully enough to keep me happy)

Got the heads apart today. Everything still looks great, minus being really black(my poor tuning at 16 lol)

Now that the heads are apart i can finish the oil return passages and then start polishing the combustion chambers. after that ill open up the exhaust a considerable amount
and then hit the intake ports(which still appear untouched thus far)
Once im finished with all that(probably 3 weeks or so) ill have the heads milled some more(not exactly sure how much yet somewhere from .020-.040) and have the valve guides milled down(im thinking .100-.120 to accomodate a large custom grind from comp) and then that'll pretty much finish off the top end.
During the next 3 weeks or so ill also be tackling the job of lightening and polishing the connecting rods and having the rotating assembly rebalanced.
Ill more than likely be going with a 3bar mpfi setup as well (im speaking with bill-usn1 about specifics right now)
Ill be doing a few more things inbetween such as caging the truck and boxing the frame, but ill keep you guys posted and fully pictured
