If nothing else, that clean top with the sliding windows was worth preserving. If you ever needed to find it a good home, lots here, including me, would probably consider the shipping to be worth the trouble.

Now I need to look your town up on the map; I used to spend some time up towards Fort Ashby, as a kid. Even have a picture of the old swinging bridge on my desktop.

I have a set of the 2.5" springs on my '69 800 with extended shackles and am very happy with the setup. Stock driveshafts work, but if you plan on doing much wheeling, you probably want a bit more length for the front, you should also probably plan on extended brake lines. I used stainless steel ones from Back Country Binders. The six cylinder and 3 speed doesn't really surprise me much, what did get me a bit was the three speed on the floor in the 908C I just bought. A three speed didn't surprise me a bit, but on a pickup, I would have expected it on the column. On the other hand the C900's are kind of an odd duck to start with.

Nice Save/Score!

Not sure if it's an SR2 (SR2 was a stripe/trim package that had special stripes on the rocker panels, hood, and a pinstripe).

The color and the sliding rear windows made me think its a gold sr2.
Whats the serial number?
Yeah I've seen very few inline sixes with 4 speeds. I've owned 4 232 inline six scouts and every single one was a 3 speed.

Try finding an early AMC six four speed bellhousing and see how much luck you have......they're pretty rare.

I don't need one, but the one I did have (from a 71 Scout 810 with a 232) lasted about 15 minutes after I put it on the classifieds here, and I had several other people interested in it. I'd be pretty surprised now that you let people know you have one if it didn't find a new home rather quickly, seems like there are more and more 800 builds coming down the pike, and lots of the 800 A and B models came with a 232.

There are double stripes on the hood that has been painted over and decals on the lower rockers and bottom of fenders thats been painted over gold! Could it be an SR 2?

South Bend Clutch in South Bend IN, or Fort Wayne Clutch in Fort Wayne IN. Both are more reasonable and better quality than the big box stores on clutches. If I was you though, I'd take a drive and hook up with Stu and snag that bellhousing and T-18 he has before you do the clutch. The T-90 is the weak link in the system, they were somewhat OK behind a 152, but behind a V-8 or an inline six that has more torque, they tend to not hold up real well. If you're going to have it all apart anyway, that's an opportune time to swap in the better trans.

And yes, I'd say if you have painted over stripes that it probably is an SR2, order a lineset ticket to find out for sure though, that's the only sure fire way to tell. One of the BP team, Roy Ireland (user rlireland) is I think keeping a list of VIN numbers and counts on the various 'doll up' baby Scouts. Once you establish for sure if it is or isn't an SR2, it would be helpful if you hit him up and gave him the VIN number to add to his database.
