Default Weekend Report 11-5,6

Had a great weekend. Put the hardtop on the Scout, changed out the old temportary plexiglass sliding window that I installed back in '90 for a glass one I aquired a few years ago, and took the family to the park, including having Marty fetch a duck decoy from the lake a few times. I went hunting Sunday afternoon. Didn't kill anything, but it might be due to smelling like wet dog from earlier. 2 things... the rear liftgate gas strut conversion I did is Awesome!!! and so is the rewire.. I have blinkers and hazards, and a kickbutt stereo. What did everyone else do?

No IH for me, I had to update one of my NC fire certification classes this weekend. I did daydream while in class of fixing a carb issue.

Mark, I'm liking the gas strut upgrade, did you do a write-up on it like the wiper upgrade?

Well I must say things are coming along with my rig at a rapid rate. The body work is nearing a finish and I am rewiring the whole rig. Here are some pics of the body getting sanded down and ready for primer/sanding and some of the new wiring harness and prep for the rear floor..

I cut two 50 year old oaks, both dead, and loaded them into friends trucks/trailers for firewood. I am a little sore. I used my cub all day yesterday pulling the leaf vac, and the aerator. Got a deal on some creeping red fescue, so I plated it in the front yard. Probably too late for the season, but, if 15% comes up, I am happy.

Yeah Gary, I did, it was brief however. http://www.binderplanet.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=74026 The trick was finding the right struts. The best parts about it, is that it lifts up higher so you don't bonk your head, it lifts itself up, and it stays up so if you want to leave it open, it doesn't slam shut when you hit a bump.

Not too much IH work this weekend as I had a rugby match on Saturday, and spent Sunday feeling a bit under the weather. Think it was a combination of the previous nights festivities and a bit of a cold I seemed to have caught.

I did manage to fix a few things on the 200 that needed attention after the Wrenchfest last week. Determined that a small oil leak was due to a missing seal on the bottom of the distributor. So I pulled it out and got the seal put in place, still need to get the timing adjusted. I replaced the the master brake cylinder and right rear wheel cylinder since they both started to leak. Luckily the master was new and under warranty and I had a brand new spare wheel cylinder. I had to order a new rear wheel bearing lock washer, you know the "special" Dana 60 one that only comes on IH's. $16 and a few days later, I could finish the job. Also got my new lower radiator hose in and installed since the old one was on it's last leg.

What classes were these?? I take it you work in this particular field? Just curious, as I too have certifications that can and do expire and thus was curious what your specialty was in.

Jeff, I am a level 2 state cert. firefighter. I needed to update some medical classes, most of the fire classes are a one time sort of deal here in NC, except hazmat and medical. I have had around 250hrs of in class training in the last two years. I am not a paid firefighter though, just like to know what I'm doing. I work with a really professional team and refuse to be the weak link.

You get down to Anniston,AL for any FEMA training? I see a bunch of fire/emt guys down there. Also some good training in new Mexico at new Mexico tech... All free and paid for by FEMA

Not to much IHing for me this weekend. Me and my little man hung out most the day on Sat. but we did manage to see a travelall in Brevard. I couldn't track down the owner, but it seem to be in pretty good shape.

Later,
TR
