Default Firewall grommet

I am not able to find something in the aftermarket for the harness passing trough the firewall. I kinda like the Caprice piece from the step by step directions thread. Can this part be removed without pulling the harness? I am heading to junk yard again this weekend and would like to have a plan of attack before I get there.

yes.
Just push it out the firewall and then take a really good razor knife with new blades and cut the bottom in a straight line from one end to the other. Then it can be peeled off the harness.
It's molded around the wires so it's tight.

The vans are easier since they go thru the floor under the drivers seat.
If you disconnect the harness at the ecm you can pull the whole thing down to work on it.

As I am building this harness, I wonder if it would turn out clean if I did what GM did with the vans. It would be easy to build a bracket for the ECU under the seat and there would be no extra holes to make in the firewall. Just alot more length of wire. Who knows, maybe next time.
