This Scout belongs to a local guy who wanted the following repaired/replaced: Front floors Inner rocker panels Kick panels Outer rocker panels Front fender & nose piece Gas tank inner, outer & lower panels Rear floor Endcaps Windshield frame New poly body bushings & 1” body lift Doors Tailgate Poly tanks w/ new lines & switch So, let’s get started! These first pictures are the before pictures. It doesn’t look too bad, but it was. The inner & outer rocker panels were rotted and the outer was replaced with a piece of 22 gauge aluminum sheet metal pop riveted on. The kick panel has the usual rust behind the hinge. The gas tank surrounds were rotted out. Lots of previous owner “fixes” that were done poorly.

The first thing to do was to strip the body of the roof, fenders, doors, nose, seats, etc. The windshield had been damaged and poorly repaired. It took 2 minutes to break it off.
Next, cut out the front floors.

Weld in the new floors & new inner rocker panels/kick panels.
The seat base is welded back in. I make my own floors out of 16 gauge steel. I built a brake a few years ago to bend the edges too.

I like this picture. I replaced the lower portion of the A pillar on both sides and the lower portion of the B pillar on the driver's side. You can never have enough clamps to hold things in place!!

The upper door hinge area was rotted & weak on the driver's side. So that needed to be fixed also.

Then, I got lazy and didn't take so many pictures.
Here's the gas tank area all hacked apart and the rear floor is gone! Oh yeah, somewhere along the way I welded on the new rocker panels and made the caps that seal the ends.

After everything was welded in (you can see the new floor in the rear in these pics, built to factory specs), we shot it with some paint called Miracle Paint or something like that...$30/quart and it's tough as nails.
