Yes the 300 behind a four speed stick. Do you think that would be something to trade out of the 77? It has the automatic. I did a quick google search and the tranfer case was only offered in 1980. Learn something new every day!!

I will definitely look into the paintless dent puller as I will sell this soon and it will have to be as is! My wife is telling me one of them has to go! I don’t want codes showing up either as we have to have all vehicles registered that are on the property. They usually don’t enforce it but all I need is someone to complain (besides the wife!!).

It is a very clean scout! It is all I can do not to keep it!! I have been spending all my time cleaning/fixing it up and getting it ready to sell but I did get a little time to start repairing some items in the 77’s interior.

Replaced the turn signal switch and the horn/turn signal cam which I was surprised to find still available at O’Reilly’s for $40. Made in the USA even!! Got the horn working as the PO cut the wiring and installed a switch under the dash to blow the horn. Luckily this new switch replaced the hacked wiring. You can still see the white switch in the background of the third pic.

Used this steering wheel lock plate remover I borrowed from Autozone which made the job so much easier.

Painted the steering column and have pretty much decided to paint the rest of the dash the same color. You can tell it needs it!

The word for this week was floor pans! We took the rest of the interior out of the 77 and have been working at removing the carpet glue. The good news is that the carpet and carpet glue pretty much sealed up the floor pans from any moisture. My plan was to paint the tub anyway but this is taking a while to remove!

I had really not looked at the floor pans under the vinyl floor cover on the 80 but discovered some rust around the area of the floor near the door and corners. Probably from someone just hosing out the interior. Luckily this turned out to be surface corrosion and I removed it with a wire brush and some sanding. Pretty much just treated it, primed it and painted it. Was able to get some color matching paint at my local automotive paint supplier in rattle can. I’m not the best at applying seam sealer!

Was amazed at how thick the vinyl flooring was and you can see some areas where it was glued down also! It was attached at the firewall behind the heater box so had to work around it.

The 1980 sold and is now cruising the hills of Tennessee. I drove the scout to El Paso to meet the hauler but they picked it up with a trailer. New owner received it today and is happy. I’m having seller’s remorse!!

We have been slowly working on the 77’s interior. Removed most of the glue but had to sand a lot of it off which then required the floors and side walls to be painted. This is temporary as I want the interior painted with the same color/paint as the exterior. Because the glue was so hard to remove at the beginning I had decided to just put new carpet in. I ordered that in black and we put that in. It is not glued down so I can remove it if we do not like it.

After driving the 1980 around I really liked the black interior which included the dash and dash pad. So we decided to paint ours from the green to black.

Will need to replace or refurbish the old pad. It is in very poor condition so on the hunt for one!

Added some roll bar padding and a bikini top!

Have ordered the door inserts. Will order a new top and door skins soon and will hopefully start on paint and body next weekend.

Thanks Gib! All the great build threads posted on Binder Plant are keeping us motivated!! I’m just trying to slow myself down and be patient.

Picked up the door inserts at the bus station today! Hard to believe they all fit in that box! I have to thank Mark at Scout M.A.D.ness who has worked with me on a bunch of small items I needed. He has been very patient and you can tell likes to share his knowledge on Scout stuff!

Hoping to start body and paint this weekend now that we have the inserts!
