Is this worth rescuing? there are 3 rust aeras on the chassis(one is pictured) and both floorboards, entire bed and inner fenders have holes? The aera where the front fender meets the lower door hinge and the chassis/cab mount is just floating in the air! Loose not attached to the chassis.
I have never welded, wouldnt mind learning, but is this too much to tackle for a beginner,I have been looking/searching for a donor tub and chassis(V8)?
My plan for the vehicle was to repair and use it as a safe/solid weekend driver on the beach, around town, not a restoration or concours car. Suggestions please.

thanks,Jerry

Unless you have a lot of money and/or time to spend on this I would say it is better saved for parts.

I would say it depends on how long you want it apart. I think once you get going on it you are gonna find more that needs repair. It also depends on how you want the scout to look when you are done. If you just want it safe and everything working that is different than looking good and all the pieces fitting correctly. I myself would be on the lookout for a better tub. but if you want insperation on this one look in the builds section and read the Bubba Scout thread. You will see what can be done.

I agree with Henry 100%. What do the outer panels look like on the inside of them?

That's pretty bad, but I've rebuilt worse (but not much worse).

Back in the late 90's, I rebuilt this red 800 which was a plow truck in Illinois. I replaced the doors, hood, fenders, nose piece, tailgate, front floors, rear floor, kick panels, bed rails & gas tank surrounds. A lot of the front inner fenders were shot as well.

But, at some point you're going to have to make a choice. Either you are going to put 300 hours and a couple sheets of 16 gauge into the thing and have it come out completely rust free, or be better off starting with something more solid and use that one for parts.
