I can now go 400 miles on my 33/35gal tank and dont get too worried. I have pushed it to 450 once, but I was a little nervous.

Mighty:
You say you have 33" tires on the Scout. Is your speedo/odo accurate? You can easily verify it with a GPS unit. I'm assuming you're calc-ing your mileage with the odometer. 7 mpg city is poor for a Scout II w/ V8. Mine will give at least 10-12 mpg around town (w/ a light right foot), and 14+ on the highway.

Well, I'm back now... Scout performed like a champ. Only issue I had was a strap ripping free from my bikini top (now being replaced).. Well and one other minor issue; The T-19 isn't a happy downshifter and finding 3rd for some of the passes became a pita. I found myself double clutching and rev matching to get it to slip in (and it'd want to pop out again if I let off the go pedal abruptly).
The speedo is fairly close judging by the roadside radar signs. Just three mph high. Speedo says 60, radar says 57-58. Son's garmin confirmed it's fairly accurate. I was able to cruise normally around 70mph, still had power to pass slower RV's & semi's and so forth. Again, we're talking high country, mountains, and high plains. Didn't do much wheeling... just some scenic stuff. Next mod I think will be three seat belts on the rear bench (family of five here). It's wide enough, but only two straps. We did ride 'illegally' for a couple of these excursions. Mileage was 10.5 mpg and the best I saw was 12.7 mpg. (Didn't track it though on the downhill way home). On the way up, I filled pretty often. On the way back, I pushed that comfort zone a lot more and did about half the stops. |

Just got the replacement bikini top and upgraded to a family top...
B-DCo was great to work with. It's also a D&C Extreme custom cage if anyone is wondering... ![]()
