Default Tony's Scout

Tony contacted me to do a rebuild for him on a yet to be named 66ish Scout. We chatted several times so I got a feel of what he was looking for in a Scout. So he bought a 66 Scout that was a little unusual in the fact that it is an 800 with a fold down windshield, it is rust free for the most part but it is rough. She has been sitting for a while, and someone has done a SOA and hacked the inner fenders. After RMIHR we will be pulling the body and sending it out for meadia blasting, then it will go over to a friends shop for some repair work before it heads to paint. Tony is looking to have it painted IH red with a white top. There will also be a lot of powder coating going on so it will have a fighting chance in the east coast winters. Stay tuned this will be a very stock kind of rebuild, here are the first pictures Scout showing up here in Montana.

Edit. How could I pass on this last picture heading for Pa.

Yep looks like one to me. I will also have to install a windshield hold down loop because this rare bird is a 800 with a fold down windshield. Chcek the brackets are a little different than a Scout 80. International truely did build what ever you wanted I think, it amazes me to see the differences you run into in the same models.

Here you can see some body damage to the nose of this Scout. While I was at RMIHR I stopped by Phil Conrod's and picked up a new nose, the cost of body work and also the fact that the newer one will not have a ton of filler makes it a no brainer.

Here also you see the inner fenders, someone cut the snot out of them at some point in this poor girls life. The repair will be a little tricky so that the repair will not be an eyesore from eather side.

Here are a couple areas of consern on the rear bed, looks like over the years people have drilled many many many mounting hole for God knows what. I will be welding all of them up and have to blend out both sides to have a good look when this Scout is completed.

Also you see the end cap, we will be metal working this. In the past filler was used but you see here there was way to much. The filler is to smooth over a repair NOT to do the repair. The deal is when done wrong it looks like this, falling off

As we progress with this project one of the issues that we will be addressing is a SOA that was done in the past. When we lift off the body and start the chassis rebuild we will be correcting this. Also we will be removing shock mounts that were welded on along with some sort of winch mount thing.

There is a question about the original hood. It was replaced with a newer 800 ... the original had an air intake cut into it. The new one looks the same except for the missing IH logo on the front and the windshield hold down loop. Tony
