Make sure it's the pan gasket and not something above - dipstick tube, selector shaft, detent cable, governor cover, etc. Using sealer? Try it dry and make sure it's not over tightened.

Hey Randy, I wiped it all down and watched it and it is definitely coming from the pan. I used gasket sealer the first time and the second time I just used the gasket only. I tightened it until it got snug then went a quarter of a turn more and stopped. I didn't do it in any kind of sequence and I was just reading I might should have done that.

You never know where or when he will show up, he seems to go only to places where people really need his help working on scouts and the cookies are abundant.

Not a huge update but here it is anyways. I dropped off the new driveshaft I had built to get re-built again. I am adding a CV joint to it since Master Scout Builder Davis pointed out I would need to do so.

I also fixed the gauge light dimmer switch and got the inside passenger floor lights to work. I started the Scout Yesterday and it sure sounded nice with the mufflers on it. I can now here the rattle of the diesel engine instead of the open exhaust. Still no leaks on the new tranny lines so that is all good.

I should have the new rear drive shaft today or tomorrow. When I get it back I am going to put it in and then take it for a short drive.

I did do a bone head thing when I put my dash in, I bunched a few of the unused wires together under the dash a put them above the brake pedal assembly. After I got everything in the dash and all hooked up I realized I couldn't get to the wire that were needed to hook up things like the heater and electric fan. To make it short, I remembered there is an access panel on the firewall where the VIN plate sits, I took it off and I could now get to all the wires and also to the headlight switch which I fixed. If I wouldn't have remembered that I would have taken the dash apart AGAIN.

I tried to get the passenger side wiper off but I cant get the role pin to come out. I have even tried drilling it out. No luck so far. I will keep at it since I just rebuilt the passenger side one.

Great progress Buddy! Must feel great to be driving on the street again! This flurry of activity has me bowing in shame. Work has been a bear, but I just put in for a week off starting the 25th, and will be playing catch-up for a long time.

I am just tired of not have a scout when every one else does, the bash really got me kicked into gear, that and all you have done on yours as well as Davis and Chris. You three guys have been my inspiration on getting this thing done. It wont be as nice as yours or the one Davis is building but I hope it is functional.

I didnt want to classify the condition of your since it was so far above mine I didnt think it need to be said. I could only dream that mine would be as nice as the war wagon. But, its just a dream.

I got the new CV rear shaft today and while I was out having lunch with a friend of mine he happened to have twin matching electric radiator fans laying around he didnt want. Soooo I now have fans to install forrrrrr freeeeee.

I should be taking the Patty Wagon out for a test drive tonight.

Default It lives

Well it has been a long road to get here but as of today the Scout lives. I took on a little drive today after putting in the new CV rear shaft and it drove great. Better then I expected. No vibrations in the drive line at all. I even spun the 36's a little going up a hill. The diesel seems to have ok power and the tranny shifted as expected. Tires need to be balanced though. I only got it up to 2nd gear but for its first run around it did pretty good. I am very happy so far. Minus the dam lean to the drivers side. Its gotta be in the frame. I am going to take it to the frame shop soon and have it checked out.

Here are some pictures of it out on its little run around.

First ones out of the garage since I started this 3 years ago.
