Default 2-4 wheel drive, rear shackle flip?

I picked up a D60 off Iron Maiden. Now obviously its going to be higher in the front after I install it, will a shackle flip in the rear level it instead of adding blocks? And will it tow different with flipped shackles? (I know it will be different being higher...) thanks!

Hey Jon,
I fliped them on my 200, I got maby 2 in. So you will still be tail draging. I would do the flip then install am small lift block or add a leaf.

Ah, gotcha! Thanks. Looking for as little block action as possible, its going to be my tow rig/truck puller so wrap is a no no!

If this is for a full size then I would look at lift springs or take the old springs to a spring shop to have leafs added.

They are not much money in the scheme of things and will keep your towing and ride comfort. (Just stay away from the procomp springs, they are way too stiff)

If you need only an inch or two look for zero rate lift springs. This is just a block that mounts in the spring pack.

Sorry, should have specified, figured the shackle flip woulda given it away.... its on my 1210 travelette. I don't want any lift I want it as close to "stock" 4x4 height as possible, for towing, and that "sleeper" look when I'm cleaning house at the pulls!!! "just an old farm truck!!"

Oh and I always bolt any blocks through the centerpin to the leaf pack, if the ubolts ever loosen I don't want it to spit out the blocks!!

Spring under w/ lift springs minimizes wrap, IMHO.

Maybe some hidden traction bars, or heimed link from pumpkin to chassis?

What obviously am I missing, you are already spring over in the front with a D-44, the tubes on the D-60 are a little larger but I dont think think your going to get that much lift out of it unless I am completely missing something here.

Nevermind I didnt relize you were two wheel drive LOL. I wouldnt do the shackle flip if your gonna do a lot of towing.

Good luck

The shackle flip will give you alittle, but the ride was not as good, and then you also have to shim to get the agle correct.I added the factory block to mine, its about 4" and has 2 grooves where the u bolts go.To do it right would be block,or different springs. You didnt ask about this, but I will give you a heads up,as I converted a long bed travelette to 4x4 and this drove me nuts. You need to lower the carrier bearing,if not it causes binding and alot of noise,I ended up changing transfer case before I relized this. The drive shaft from the tcase ends up going up hill to the bearing then down to the rear, you need to make the shaft level,or slightly down hill.

xlc, you probably right, but I'm not going to re engineer a d60 to sua, which would probably lower it more than being 2wd....haha.

Thanks for the tips guys! Jeff, any pics of your dropped bearing? Any idea what they do from the factory?

Oh and another thing to ask, will the stock draglink reach the factory dodge one that's on the knuckle? I was thinking of doing high steer like I did on the scout but the pitman arm on the truck is push pull front to back....
