That looks nice Mike! That truly is the way to go if you really want to drive it everyday. More power, better reliability. Just out of curiosity, are you going to keep the slip yoke in the back or is there a slip yoke eliminator for that t-case? Any idea how you will do the dash? I assume it won't be stock anymore. Keep the updates coming.

It is absolutely the way to go, Mitch!
There is a SYE kit for the NP241, but with no lift we're just going to run a standard shaft with the slip yoke still in there. I have the SY and a CV shaft in my Scout with little-to-no vibration and a 4" lift, so I think we'll be fine.
We haven't totally crossed the bridge of the dash, yet. The customer wants the Scout to look pretty much stock, but it will likely have Silverado style leather seats with shoulder harnesses, so we may replace the dash, too. I don't know. I'd imagine it will be stock looking gauges, though.

Good stuff Mike. I like it all but the transfer case hanging below the frame rails. I know that's not a big deal, but that's just the trail rig mentality that I have naturally. Being all stock, there is no need for any kind of a tuner. After it's all mounted, it's plug and play.

So when will your truck get one of those fancy front driveshafts?

Thanks, Jason. The Tcase and Xmember hanging down sucks, but it ain't that big of a deal. I may make a skid plate if the customer wants one. I don't figure it will be needing it, but if he wants it we'll make one. I may graft the GM one onto mine when I do it.

I was going to do the front shaft in mine tonight, but I think I will wait until after Nats. It's gonna need the front half of the exhaust replaced at the same time, and I think I may put quieter mufflers on it, so it will cost a chunk when I do it...so I wanna wait and see if funds allow it after Nats. Tonight I want to get my locking bed cover made up for mine.

Time for another update here. We got back from Nationals and got to work on this Scout. We got the bottom of the tub lined with SEM Rock-It Bedliner, which is the same stuff I have had in the bed and interior of my daily driver since '05. It looks and works awesome! Then we POR-15'd the inside of the tub, as well as the left inner quarter and the inside of the outer quarter. We'd have done the right side, but it wasn't taken off during the process.

We're expecting the front fenders back from the body shop in primer today, but until then I stuck a couple of my spares on it to make sure the doors line up decent.

So, as it sits, the body is on it, POR'd and lined, and we got a spray can mixed up to test a spot out for color...

Though in the picture it looks like Tahitian Red Metallic, it's actually a 2010 GM color called Red Jewel. It's a deep red that REALLY looks great! Not as "brown" as it looks in the picture. The 2010 Camaro used it:

The owner is coming down Friday to take a look-see, so we'll likely just get the correct fenders on and fitted, and tweak the body panel alignment a little bit and lay low until he gets here. We gotta pull the engine wiring harness and send it off for modification, reprogramming, and all that while we are slowed down, too. After his visit, we need to finish up the door dogleg areas, POR-15 it around those points after welding, and make a few plates for the ends of the rockers, etc. At that point we'll be doing paint/body work, interior, new glass and weatherstripping, etc. It's starting to get to the FUN part!

Lots of work done, but little visible stuff. We had to repair a LOT of stuff that the PO's "fixed" that we hadn't seen before. We also learned that the SEM liner over factory undercoating is a no-go...it attacks the OEM stuff and pulls it away from the metal/paint. So, we currently have one side of the tub in primer, and the other side will hopefully be tonight. Then we gotta get the jams and firewall sprayed and reset the tub on the chassis for final assembly and paint. One fender, top, hood, tailgate and liftgate are as of yet, untouched. We want to get the tub jams done so we can set it and start wiring, dash, sound killer, etc while the body guy works on the bolt-on sheetmetal.

Wow! That is way too pretty to be a Scout's firewall. Can't wait to see the finished project.
