Nice install and glad its working out great. One question, just out of curiosity, what throttle body is that? I cant really get a good view of it from the wires laying on it in the pics, but it looks kinda like a TBI unit with the injector pod removed.

It was buried in the first post.

Quote:
The system consists of an aluminum RPT manifold from IH Only. For specifics on installing the RPT manifold see this FAQ The rest of the component parts are from the wrecking yard.
The wiring harness is from a 1988 2500 Chevrolet pickup truck. The distributor is from a late model Buick(stick with the chevy distr) and is the seven pin large cap. But the rotor plate had to be reindexed since it was a CCW not CW rotation distr. This changed the rotor phasing. I had a machinist adapt this distributor top onto an existing 4 pin "Willis" large cap distributor that was in the truck already. The pickup was also changed at this point to the Chevrolet style.
The Holley throttle body that will be used in this conversion is from a 1997 V8 Jeep.
The computer is a 7427 out of a 1994 Astro Van CPI 4.3 V6. For specifics on what mods need to be done to use this PCM with a MPFI system see this FAQ.
More information to follow. This will wet your appetite hopefully.

I will post some new pics of the installation in the next few days with some close ups of the components. Gotta install my blingy new clear cap and clean/polish the throttle body, etc...

This is a beautiful truck. I had the pleasure of seeing it in person at the just IH show a few weeks ago. The FI install is super clean and the whole truck is impressive. If anybody gets the chance to see this rig in person, dont pass up the chance.

Now that the system has been on for a few weeks and you have put some miles on it, what are your thoughts? MPG numbers? Anything your not happy with or would do different?

A quick update. We took the truck to the Binder Bee in Brooks Oregon this last weekend and it performed beautifully on the road down and back. Average was 12 MPG with one run being 13.08 MPG this was done when my average road speed was about 60 MPH.
I will be taking this truck up to the Chilliwack I.H. Super Show http://www.scoutpluss.com/ih-show-2011/ .
Hope to see a few of you there.

Chris

Hows the system doing? I have a couple questions.

Your running the dodge/jeep TB, did you re use the tps, iac, and map from that TB, or did you adapt gm sensors on there? From the pics, it kinda looks like you re used the dodge/jeep ones. If so, then I am guessing they are compatable with the gm system? They put out the correct voltage/signals?
And next, what fuel pressure regulator did you use? It kinda looks like a aftermarket one from the picture. Is it set for one pressure, or did you vaccume refrence it? And what pressure are you running?
Thanks.

The system is running great. You are correct I am running the sensors that were mounted on the throttle body when pulled from the donor vehicle. Only the IAC needed to have the wires switched around, but the IAC is still the same as the GM otherwise. The fuel pressure regulator is an inexpensive one off EBAY and cost about $40.00 if I remember correctly. No need to spend big bucks when cheap will do. Regulator is set at about 42 psi. It does have a reference connection port if I decide to later add a turbo or....
