Yes with some extra parts,I am almost positive the pickup has different spline count, this means you need to change where the splines ingage..I would do it,power locks are the best in my mind.

I think the pickup would have the old style axles with the wheel bearing adjusters, so like Jeff said, the Powrlock would take some work to swap it over. The one out of the 800 should be the same though as long as it has flanged axles.

I can assume that a rear d44 locker can be put into a front d44.I would also assume that as long as the gear ratios are close(4:10-4:27) they would also be compatable.

What matters is carrier size, and spline count of the side gears matching the axles of the vehicle it goes into.

You are only changing carriers to go the Powr-Lok route. The original ring gear gets swapped from original to the donor so you will maintain a matched set in the 78. If the axle spline count of the donor axle and the receiving axle are the same, no problem; if the gear ratios are close,(with 3.73:1 being the break point), no problem. If the carrier size or side gear spline count of the donor aren't the same as the receiving axle, you are in for a total rebuild anyway.
