The 5,656 Scout 800s produced in July & Aug 1965 before the end of the Scout 80 production in early September 1965 have a dash wiring difference NOT indicated in the Scout 80/800 CTS-2302 Service Manual! The Service Manual has a page showing "Early 800 Production". This DOES NOT involve those 5,656 Preliminary Production Scouts!!. It is referring to Model 800s produced, after the end of the Model 80 production, in late September 1965 and thereafter! There is NO (Repeat NO) wiring diagram for those 5,656 Preliminary Production Scout 800s.
The general wiring harness for those 5,656 Scouts seems to be identical to the later Scout 800's. The C/D and AA harness plugs are the same.
H-O-W-E-V-E-R: For whatever reason, IH used the Scout 80 (with Alternator) Light Switch which includes all the dash wiring, instrument connections, etc. The wiring and light switch pinouts match the Model 80 (with Alternator) light switch.
I first acquired a Scout 800 made in late Sep 65 which, of course, uses the Scout 800 light switch. I recently acquired another Scout 800 but this one is one of those 5,656 Preliminary Production Scouts made in late August 1965. I got lots of headaches trying to unscramble the wiring on it till I figured out what IH had done. Be Warned and take notice if you have a
Scout 800 with a Serial Number from FC150470 to FC156126..The wiring is definitely different under the dash.
