We've been using evercoat euro-soft for the final glaze on mine. It works really good.
Also...if you have high spots, depending on size, you may be better off tapping the high spot down with a body hammer and filling over it instead of building filler up around it. *Edit* Kirk beat me to it. Lol!

I agree with the replies thus far. I would say half time is a little too thick, then ice or icing is decent as well, the only thing i would add is in a tube, 3m makes a product we call red cap which is applied over pin holes and then we wet sand it with 400 grit paper as a final. Its a nice product as well.

Sounds like you have it right except are you using a sanding board? I don't mean a block but rather a long board. it helps leveling evrything out.

Most generally the highest grit paper I use on filler is 180. First application blocked down with 36 grit, then another application blocked with 80, and lightly finished with 180. Etch prime the bare metal areas, then 3 coats of 2k primer on everything. 2k is a higher build primer and will fill 80 scratches and level minor imperfections. then blocked with 180 or 220, and finished with 400 and wet 600. Sanding filler with higher grit makes it much easier to "undercut" it, and it kinda sounds like that is what problem your having. TechFlow was mentioned earlier, that is what I use as a finishing filler for pits and other minor flaws. It spreads much smoother than standard filler.

I have heard a few auto body pros recommend the *Blue Ice* body filler product.

You should take the pointed hammer from you hammer and dolly set and gently pound the high spots back in.
Otherwise you end up with too much bondo. |

One of the easy ways to find high spots, is to take a large ( I mean large) rasp file and run it across the area being worked. The file will drag across the high spots, making them easily visible so you can tap them down with the pointed hammer.
Once all high spots are gone, you use filler. |

---I think it important to set something straight. Those who are not having luck with a "certain" Spot & Glazing Putty need to be applying it after primer and allowing primer to completely cure first. It's not a filler and it's not mean to be applied over filler. For applications over filler, we have the finishing, low-porous filler.
---Again, I would talk to the surfers who work their own boards. Since you have that source of information in your neighborhood, why not? I highly doubt some junior achiever at fiber glassing is going to step foot on the beach, sporting a turd for a board or surf more than once, twice if he's lucky, with a weak board.

Mike is onto it. The DA/sanding block removal is what's getting you. Get a long board, dura-block, or even rollbar padding with a dowel or PVC in it and make sure to use a guide coat (black spray paint works but there are dedicated products as well).
