Default Re: axles needed

I am from Opelousas LA which is close to Lafayette. My familys' property is close to a town called Port Barre which is on Hwy 190. It's about 4 hours one way from my house to my Mother's house which is the property next door to the barn where all the parts are. I have already started stripping the Scout to get it ready to scrap. The engine/transmission/transfer case and whatever other small parts I can recover are what I am after. I planned on pulling the axles just because, but as for getting it out I would say it would be a PITA at best. I pulled the wheels and tires last time I was in because I wanted a full set of 5 ralley wheels and that was the truck they were on. I am trying to arrange a time that my Paren' (godfather) can help as he has a crane on his service truck as well as compressor, air tools, and more tools than I will ever have or need (he is an independent heavy equipment mechanic). These axles, like all of the parts I have, have been in non enclosed storage for a long time, so please don't thing any of these parts will be shiny and new. They will be rusted and crusty at best. I know the axles were good when I parked it and they had Baton Rouge Industries gear oil in them but you know how that goes. On a positive you need cores for a lot of parts and you will have those. I had put new rotors and hubs and bearings on the front axle as well as rebuilding the calipers but that 12 years ago (damn I'm getting old). Some of it may clean up. Also, I think I mentioned this before but I'm sure that I have mismatched gears as the last axle I put under it I took from the Terra and I'm almost positive that I have 4.10's in the back and 3.73's in the front. ( I was hard on ring and pinions in my younger days and having a multitude of axles at hand made swapping axles easier than gear sets).

Yes, you can have the axles from under my red scout for free and we finish tearing it down or I can speak to my uncle and we can grab a set that he has for whatever he wants. I would say that is two hundred or less. Sorry that didn't convey well. We are cleaning up that property and collectively need to get things moving out. I have no need for dana 44's as any "upgrades" I do in that department will be ton axles. The engine and driveline on the other hand I have ALOT of money in so they are coming back to TX to be gone through to power the Scout I have here. I'll try and arrange a few days to get it done in the next few weeks. Let me know your schedule and I'll talk to my paren and we'll knock it out. The barn is a Scout graveyard and you may want the axles from under the grey scout as they are already spring over. The only issue I forsee is having the payload capacity to get everything back to Houston.

no problem on payload. i have a f-350. can get a trailer of any size if needed. and if all else fails i hold a class A CDL! you let me know when it works for you! my schedual is so flexable that i can make it happen when ever you say. it will be a huge help to get axles for free! I don't mind working in trade. i will say with the distance and time i could only dedicate one day to it. leaving before daylight work all day and get back late.

I'm looking at schedule now. I accepted an engineering position with a firm and start at the beginning of next month so I have been coming to terms with some major changes in my life. Now that I know you have a big truck we can probably grab a few more things. I promised Dirk a Scout truck cab that I have (not the Terra model but the real deal steel top with square doors) and I have some other miscelaneous body parts and things that may be worth the time. Sorry to you and Radar as we were a Scout II bunch. I just want to warn you in advance, the barn fell down in the last few years and this was basically a junk yard or my family for all of their parts and trucks. Everything in the area is international but you have to dig (literally dig in the dirt. I had to dig a new head out of the ground when I cracked one years ago) but you will probably be able to find everything you have ever dreamed of.

I have a set from a Wagoneer passenger side drop with offset rear. Doesn't have brake calipers or locking hubs on front and missing most brake parts of one side of the rear axle. $150
