Default Mercedes fuel pump

Before I give in and pay the money,I thought I'd ask a bunch of do it yourselfers for help. Our 1972 280sel,4.5's fuel pump is shot. New from mercedes is $800, from Bap Geon $419,and a rebuilt from Bap Geon for $220.Unfortuneatly, the rebuilder has none currently. If I could find the kit I'm fairly sure I could rebuild it myself but I can't find parts ANYWHERE. Any ideas ? Thanks, Mark

Thanks, but it's electric and has an internal regulator to not overpower the injection hoses.

Sounds like the $200 is the way to go.
I'm not sure about a pump on the inlet line having a regulator that maintains pressure on the injectors.

A regulator is normally on the return side of the injectors so it maintains pressure on the injectors.

If so then just about any EFI inline pump like in the injection forum should work.
