I'm trying to fix my left rear window regulator. The window crank just spins in either direction and the service manual says to lower the window all the way to remove the clips. If I can't lower the window because the regulator is broken then how can I service it? I have tried to force the window down by pushing/pulling and it just won't go. It will move up some, but this doesn't help. I removed the clips and tried to get the window out, but that didn't work either. I think if I got the regulator out that I could repair it, but it's pretty tough to see what's going on with it with just a mirror and light. I've searched for hours on this and didn't find anything that was helpful. If I have the regulator clips off the window frame and the regulator is unscrewed I still see a pivot point that is anchored to the door. Can I just slide the regulator out of this anchor point and remove the regulator? I didn't think to do this until I sat down to type this. ![]() thanks again for helping me learn

Well, I got the regulator out and found the problem. The gear case on the regulator itself is riveted on and those had to be drilled off.
I then found the metal "sleeve" that goes around the shaft to be cracked. This allowed the crank to just spin. You can see in picture 2 how the crank has a square area at the bottom that is supposed to match the "sleeve" I tried squeezing it back together, but when I did a test run with it out the truck it quickly became distorted again. I think I might get the welder out and see what I can come up with. I figure it is broken anyway, so anything I do will either fix it or it will be a learning experience. If anyone has a regulator that will work (left rear) I'm willing to try that too.
