Default Re: Bypassing Oil Pressure sensor

To wrap things up, here is what I had wrong...

I DID use two relays as in the FAQs.

First problem was the original five wire fuel relay.
I had not snipped off the red/white wire so the fuel pump would continue running with the key in the ON position. Once snipped All is good here; and I disconnected it from where I had it under the dash!

The second problem was the second relay I had used to ONLY feed the Coil.
On top of that, was the old scout wire I used to turn this relay on was ONLY 12 Volt hot when the key was in the ON position, not 12 volts when key was turned to start/crank position. I found the original Scout wire for the original coil and used it instead...this problem solved.
I had also NOT hooked the ECM pink/black power wire nor the white and red injector wires to this relay but instead had them hooked under the dash to a feed ONLY giving them 12 volts with the key to the ON position and Not while in the start/crank position. So, I snipped these off and ran them to the relay which is also feeding the coil. All is good!

PROBLEMS SOLVED AT LAST and YES, the oil sensor had nothing to do with my problems (I did disconnect that sucker!)... Everything was in the FAQs (I have another name for the FAQs but I'll spare you They are definitely awesome but I was too stuborn to retrace things when I would read them and kept assuming I had everything correct!

Anyway, I owe a huge thanks to many of you who have put up with my stupidity... especially Bill and Orodos!!! Thank you and thanks for ALL the write-ups you and others have done! Without them I would not have made this conversion happen. Now I can see if Scout II will get more than 7.5 mpg!

Sincerely,

Dan

Congrats for admitting defeat and going back in to the spaghetti. It's a hard thing to do.

FYI, I get about 14mpg on the highway at 5 over the speedlimit, with my SOA 33's and 3.73's. I'm about 6k lbs with all my spares and gear.
