No. Didnt bid on it. Wife said I have enough projects. I just though it was a cool truck.

Good find! You're going to be amazed at how many heads you'll turn and how many thumbs-up you'll get. You'll never win a drag race (against much of anything!) but tuned up right the 258 will get you where you're going just fine. Mine has been very reliable (for a rig that age). I don't know about your year but mine has a one barrel Holley that is pretty anemic but works well. A couple times I went out when the temp was 8 degrees and it started on the first try and then sat there and idled without complaint (though if I left it too long like that it would load up). There are lots of performance options. I like to keep things very original but I'm tempted by the idea of a later 2bbl intake with a Motorcraft carb. I can tell that it wouldn't take a whole lot to wake this engine up a bit. Fuel economy isn't anything to write home about. With a 3spd manual I get a very consistent 13.5mpg. It seems to me that with the right tweaking a rig like this should be able to get up to 15 but at some point you spend more money on the upgrades than you do on the gas.
