I have about decided that I need a four speed tranny with my 4.56 gears. She gets a little hot after I hit 65 for 20 mins or so.

I'm gonna make a name suggestion...how bout the Mattmobile? Darren can be your Robin.

And here are a few progress pics:

I finished up wet sanding and buffing the last piece of the dash:

I took my factory radio apart, cleaned it, repainted the channel needle, re-chromed the chrome pieces, put a new bulb in it, and put everything back together.

Newly painted and installed driveshafts:

And a pic of Goldie smiling :

I'm thinking that "black sheep" might be better. Since yours is 99% original and "international" and mine is a mixture of ih, Chevy and ford.

That original stereo looks Sweet.

Very cool to see it going together so well Davis. That glove box looks stunning.
Great work as always!

Hey Matt,
How about something from the license plate? I had a car with JMR on the plate letters. It was fast as heck, and a really great car for road trips. So my friends started calling it "Jammer" from the three letters on the plate.

tRusti got it's name because it's the rustiest California vehicle I've ever seen. So I named it "Rusti".
Then I pulled a tandem axle trailer to Phoenix & back in two days, with absolutely no troubles (went to get a not so rusty replacement tub). So after that trip I added the "t" in front, and ordered the licence plates.

Not to hijack Davis' thread, but the four speed won't help you with highway cruising. The high gear on both is still 1-1. If you want to cut down your RPM's at 65 you either need an OD unit (probably cheapest and easiest fix) or a different tranny with an OD high gear. Nothing like that will bolt in to your Scout, so you're looking at adapters (read $$$), but an NV five speed would be a pretty nice upgrade from a three speed.

Davis, it's coming together nicely, I can't wait to see it at Nationals! (Sully, I'm keeping the pressure on!)

When is Nationals again? Does Goldie have to actually run to go to Nationals? Dennis, you have just volunteered to help Sully push Goldie back on the trailer after the show.

Here's what I started on today. More on this later.

I'd be honored, but I have pretty big hands, so make sure you bring a big enough pair of the white gloves that I'm sure you'll make all of us 'pushers' wear. I don't think you'll let Sully or Fred or I touch Goldie with our dirty old bare hands....

X2 on the XXL gloves, and I would be honored to push Goldie onto the trailer right after the awards are passed out and the pics are complete.
