Jack up the rear of the vehicle with both rear tires off the ground. Put transmission in Neutral. Spin one tire by hand. If the other tire spins in the same direction you have a LS or locker. If the other spins in the opposite direction or not at all then you have an open differential or a worn out clutch type traction device.
