![]() In an attempt to curb some of my anxiety, just lofting out an inquiry as to who else out there has one as I know I'll have a few questions. Manuals and LST will be forthcoming. I still have my SII to finish, but this will be next on the list and will have a hopefully faster track than my first project. So anyone acclimated to these beauties who wouldn't mind answering a few questions in the coming months, please post up. Here is what I know so far; PPO had a Ford 460 w/C6 for drivetrain, (engine now gone, tranny will go, all-IH drivetrain going back in). Reportedly has history of being used as a school bus in Northern Colorado. Has wooden rear deck. First couple of questions; ![]() Was the rear deck wooden from factory? Can anyone Identify axles from pictures? Were the 6-lug Bud ring wheels stock? Is the rear bench in the pics stock? Would love to see any pics you may have or know of for reference going forward. I'm just getting started and as always, am grateful for the ensight folks here have offered so freely. ![]() Thanks in advance. Link; http://www.binderplanet.com/forums/s...d.php?t=111108

That's as rock solid as you are ever going to find in the A/B series Travelall. It is about 100% in all of the most crucial areas, and it appears all of the external stuff is intact and in good condition. All that stuff is hard to find. Usually, there is rust under the gas tank on the passenger side behind the driver and at least one rear end 'cap' is bashed. Even better, it looks like your glass is all good.
The wooden deck is factory. Looks like a B120, so yes the 6 lug lockrings are factory and I think the front is a closed knuckle early D44. Not sure what the rear axle is supposed to be (I guess I should). It looks like a PO put upholstery over the entire seat including armrest??? But they do look stock in shape and size. I was going to put a diesel in mine before title, space and logistical issues forced me to liquidate. You are in better shape than I was at the start of the project, maybe you can do the 7.3 IDI and I can live vicariously!

Rear axle should be an IH RA15. You have to remove the axles to get the brake drums off. Yup that's a Dana 44 front axle. Be super careful with your brake drums- they are solid unobtainium!

Thanks for pumping me up more Stu, (LOL)!
I'll have to go with the 304 I already have in waiting due to by the time I get this home, the Binder fund will be "belly-up". ![]() Also, thanks for the tip on the drums Ohioboy! To both of you, the spring packs on this look pretty stout. Is this 1/2 ton rating or is the B120 3/4 ton? Keep the comments coming!

B-120 is a 3/4 ton. When your in Lincoln and if you have any time to spare you could look me and my brother up. We are just north of Lincoln. I've seen that t-all from a distance, just never stopped to look at it up close.

Might it be easier/cheaper to source a 351-400M out of a late 70s pickup or passenger car instead of going back to SV??? I think they mount the same as a 460? Maybe I'm wrong. I think the 429s do as well....look for a wrecked 72-76 T bird or Mark III. Mine was a B112 that originally had the 6 cyl and had a small 5 lug pattern.

BTW- that's a purty truck!
If you want to swap for non-split rims, D@dge power wagon (late 50s-early 60s) rims have the same bolt pattern (big 6) BUT they are 16.5 inch rims and your choice of tires are rapidly melting away. There's a set for sale on Binder Bench right now. I'll be experimenting with taking the centers out of an extra split rim set I have and welding them into some 16 inchers so I can have a set of non-split 16 inch big six's. That's probably a year or more down the road yet, though. Kind of an odd set of shift levers in there. I take it the guy had an auto in it? and might have swapped out the transfer case, too? (factory probably was a twin stick)

That's some great information OB. I'm am Ohio farmboy myself, (grew up 60 miles southwest of Cleveland, little town called New London). Down here in Texas, I just happen to have met a fellow just north of San Antonio that collects Power Wagons. (Happens to be where I helped my buddy Dirk picked up his '67 Travellette). IIRC, he had four last time I was there and with no tire shops wanting to play with the split rings so much anymore, that is definitely something to consider. Have you had much problem finding bearings/seals for the RA15 and CK dana 44? Like I said, I've got a Scout to finish before I dive into the T'All, but please keep the info and ideas coming, I am taking good notes and will be keeping my eyes wide open for deal/swap opportunities to acquire what is needed to support the resurrection to glory, (LOL)!

Look me up on your way back. I am not far out of the way and have binders out the wazoo. I have known Doug for several years now. I bought a scout from him and he always keeps in contact when he gets something new.

I got some high priced Timken bearings from a local shop for the rear, seals were from Rockauto. Got my front bearings and seals from Rockauto. There is a nut on the end of the spindle with a seal on the side that is supposed to keep the oil in (seals against the end plate of the axle). Those have been hard to find.
I have a parts catalog now and read somewhere that Navistar has them, but haven't followed up yet since I'm still trying to get the old beast running well enough to ease in and out of our tiny one car garage so I can work on it like a man- in the driveway! I grew up on a farm outside of Urbana (near Springfield- my uncle worked at the IH plant there). Dad still has it, but is looking to buy a place out here to retire to- about time, he'll be 89 this year. The locking hubs on the front are an old Warn model and Warn makes new ones if they need replacing. The ones on there now are machined out of aluminum, might want to check and see if they are cracked (mine were). I loved the simple design- you pull out the levers, rotate them 180 degrees and snap them back in. Cams engage a gear on the spindle- but didn't know if they could be satisfactorily fixed.
