if you use the search there has been a number of discussions on this, the short of it is most suggest using a high quality additive. I'm not sure off hand what brands have been discussed.

i did use the search and only 4 threads came up, read them all and found nothing.
hence the new thread...
my father who has been driving a log truck his whole life said if its necessary to run one i should probably use "howes" or "power service".
how do ya feel about that?
he told me that it pays for itself in fuel mileage increase and power difference. since he told me that i was planning on running one anyway but wanted to know the opinion of other sd33ers. so i figured id ask.
thanks for the reply watermunky.

I'm using canola oil as a lubricant additive in all my diesels.Way cheaper than the other stuff.

so i decided to just start using power service in the silver bottle and it helps with start up and start up smoke. when its warm all i do is hit the plugs for 10 seconds, then just barely hit the starter and it fires right up! havent started with out using the plugs just cuz i dont see a reason to try it. they are there for a reason so i use them.

thanks for the help guys

Used motor oil if kept clean and dry is used by alot of people I know to help make fuel more slick. Opti-Lube is one of the best choices out there if you are judging on lubricity.

Lots of people I've talked to swear by the Stanadyne stuff. It's supposed to be especially good on rotor pumps (Stanadyne, Roos Master, etc.) which are also fitted on the 6.9/7.3 engines.
My self, as being really cheap, I use some canola oil when not running my own bio fuels.
