Default T19 rear seal question

Not having paid attention to the old rear seal in that large iron adaptor when I tore this all apart, now I have to ask. Which way does the new seal go? The metal shell isn't exactly open on one side which would make it easy. I have a seal with a large lip inside, then a smaller lip. I think the large lip should go towards the trans, the thin lip to the transfer case. I'd imagine this would also be the same as for a T18.

Thoughts?

Default Re: T19 rear seal question

There is normaly a spring on the outer lip. That goes to the inside or wet/oil side. And you can look at the lips of the seal and tell if "oil would run under or push down" That is kind of an old school way of doing it. You want the oil to push down not run under.
