Default Duraspark conversion

Has anyone done the DS conversion on a non FI 345? I read the thread on it and it sounds like a good alternative to the pertronix and is cheaper. Eventually I will fuel inject mine, but for right now I just want to get it running again.

Yes, Many people have performed the DS conversion for carbs.
Use the DS baseplate, pickup and reluctor.

Use the GM 4 pin ignition module
Use the GM TBI coil or an equivilent electronic coil with less then 1ohm iprimary resistance if you need to keep the looks of original with a round oil can coil.

Do not try to use the original coil.

any 1987-95 chevy with TBI
Ex-1990 C1500 4.3 v6

There are procedures in the injection forum duraspark FAQ for carb and EFI version.
It doesn't matter what carb. they're all the same.
Your upgrading the ignition not the carb.

After 30yrs there is no way for us to know.
You should review the distr identification thread.

The top of the holley shaft under the rotor is round with a slot.
The prestolite is D shaped.
You want the holley. The electronic Gold box distr is easier then the points distr to convert but both work.

I managed to acquire a pile of gb dizzys, good thing they're the easy ones to convert. The 304 in the scout I sold is running fantastic, going to do my travelette when I put it back together.

ok, I have the correct dist. Now does the GM 4 pin ignition module come from the same years as the TFI coil will? Can I perform this mod without taking out the dist?

Ok I have all the parts needed for the conversion. I was wondering if it would be possuble to see some of the mountings for the hei module, I am unsure how I am going to mount it.
