I,ve put a new wiring harness in and worked on the dash. I will be going with round gauges. I was going to make a panel out of aluminum but decided I would try something a little different first.
I cut the dash up a little to fit the gauges. I also had to cut the column brace about an inch and then welded it back.

I have been building some wood surfboards lately, so I had extra fiberglass laying around. I cut up the dash panel and filled it with fiberglass and mat. then sanded it smooth and cut the holes to fit. Seems to work pretty good.

I saved a few things from my fiddle stixx build. First was the Porsche seats. I had to add a pice of angle but the bolt hole length lined up with the Scout seat base. I also decided to put my old Dukes of Hazzard rims on.

Great Idea Surfnturf. Did you use just a standard fiberglass repair kit?

I think a standard fiberglass kit (ie 3M) would have the same results. The only difference in the resin I used was it is made a little clearer for surboards. Its not quite as yellow. Its still polyester resin though and since its painted clear doesn't matter. This is just what I happen to have handy.

Here is my progress for the day. I finally got a chance to go to Nate's and pick up my engine that will go in the Scout. Its a 345 with a square bore 4 barrel manifold.
I'm not real sure if I want to go 4 or 2 barrel. I like the simplicity of the 2 plus I have a couple 2 barrel carbs sitting around. If I stay 4 I will need to get a carb.

Oh I went ahead and picked up a D44 while there. And I mean we really picked it up. My back and legs are already hurting. I forgot how heavy and ackward they are with all the brakes and steering stuff still on.
Nate however picked up the heavy end practically with one hand and tried to act like it was heavy so I wouldn't feel bad. I think he bench presses D44's

I wish I had a picture of me riding on the hood of his tractor. The 345 on the boom in the back lifted the front of the tractor.
While I was there I took a pick of my next project.

Glad you made it home good and the truck didn't give you any trouble. Also glad to unload some stuff from the house. You figure I would have invested in some tractor weights by now as much IH crap that I've moved - Oh well, it's dwindling down now. Look forward to seeing how the motor works in the Scout.

I threw some new gaskets on and gave it a basic overlook and got ready to pop the 345 in. Had a little problem with getting the torque converter to seat in the trans because of a little damage to the front pump on the 727. I decided to swap the front pumps on the 2 trans I have instead of replacing the whole trans. The torque converter slid right into place. I hope I don't regret not swapping out the trans later on. Anyway the 345 is sitting in place looking purty.

One of my helpers worked so hard he fell asleep in the front seat.

Gary brought me a 345 2 bbrl manifold down this weekend so I got busy cleaning and changing fittings out and decided to eliminate faux pounds by painting it aluminum. Ain't it purdy.

Slapped a rebuilt motocraft 2100 with a spacer on it and, yes I have clearence issues

I will deal with the clearence issues later. I also wired it up with a Ford starter relay. Its nice not having all the wires going to the starter. Much easier hook up.

Put a little more yellow on too.

It started today like a champ. So now on to some fine tuning.
