Finding paper tags during Scout II restoration

In the process of restoring (more like a deep fix up) my daughter's Scout II and notices that the number 1022 was written on the underside of the hood. THen in dismantling the doors we found paper tags that were wired to the door interior with the same 1022 number on them. They are obviously from the factory as they have the flame red paint overspray on them. We also found the same type of tags wired inunder the dash. DOes anyone know the significance of these tags or what the numbers mean?

I would repost this question in the Restoration Purists section. Were they little thin paper tags with an eyelet that a piece of string attached thru ? We found one like that underneath the horn relay on his Spirit of 76, it was simply hand written " Spirit of 76 ".
